There are rare gems like clips from Sensations of 1945 or the Singing Kid (with Al Jolson) for a song that has been adapted in a cartoon: "I Love To Sing-A".

More to come each week!
But I'm truly glad to have found a blog such like yours. Thanks again.

JeffAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36305966.post-1162596916319377222006-11-03T17:35:00.000-06:002006-11-03T17:35:00.000-06:00Hi there (or maybe I should say, "Hi-De-Ho there")...Hi there (or maybe I should say, "Hi-De-Ho there"):

My pleasure. I'm glad to hear from someone who, like me, is not just a fan of rare classic animation, but early jazz. I'm a bit of a Calloway fan myself, and am particularly fond of the cartoons he did with Max Fleischer (MINNIE THE MOOCHER, THE OLD MAN OF THE MOUNTAIN, and so on.)

Just so you know, SWING WEDDING is not a Bosko cartoon, though it does feature the Jazz Frogs, and footage from SWING WEDDING is reused in some of the Boskos.

As for where to find such rare cartoons, well...you have a bit of a challenge for yourself. In this country you might be lucky enough to find some public-domain videos, but those are disappearing. I was extraordinarily lucky, as I was able to obtain what Bosko cartoons I have from friends.

One of the reasons I set up this blog is so that perhaps someday, the studios that are holding onto these films will one day be aware of the public demand for them--and not only release them, but restore them to their original condition.

In the meantime, there's always e-bay. One can find some real gems there occasionally.

I will definitely visit your site. You're right--I don't speak French, but as the saying goes, music is the universal language.Rachel Newsteadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03487248742843223535noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36305966.post-1162583184920551922006-11-03T13:46:00.000-06:002006-11-03T13:46:00.000-06:00Hi,Ive just discovered your review of BOSKO and th...Hi,

Ive just discovered your review of BOSKO and that's very interesting. Thank you for sharing all thos great informations about those forgotten cartoons. Living in FRANCE, I've never seen those BOSKO cartoons... like "Swing Wedding", or perhaps years ago. It looks so much like "The Old Mill Pond", that maybe I'm confused about them.
If you know an easy way to find those cartoons, please let me know. I run a website about Cab CALLOWAY, and there's an interesting part about his cameos in cartoons, banned or not.
Thank you for your help, and even if you don't speak french, I'm sure you'll appreciate those great pictures of a fantastic entertainer on my website.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
